Headlines that Matter

Guaraná Antarctica, a major soda brand in Brazil and longtime sponsor of women’s football, removed its logo from 35 million cans and offered the space to brands willing to sponsor the sport.
Ten brands including Burger King, Lay's, Avon, Puma, ESPN, Hall's, BMG, Vivo, Gol and Consul each contributed $100,000 in exchange for the visibility.

Earlier this week while I was walking the dog, I started thinking about what story I wanted to share in this week’s newsletter. My mind kept coming back to a moment from last spring.
Thanks to generous support from Paul Schmidt and Such A Voice, I was able to travel to New York to attend a one day conference all about women’s sports hosted by a major sports network. The room was filled with incredible women who were blazing trails in sports, media, and partnerships.
I was so excited to be there and introduce Building Doors to as many people as possible.
Every person I pitched immediately “got it.” They loved our mission and offered leads, encouragement, and support.
At the end of the day, the event wrapped with a rooftop happy hour with great snacks, signature cocktails, and a beautiful view of the city. While standing at the bar, I spotted the head of marketing for the network’s women’s division.
I decided to shoot my shot.
After all, I had my pitch down. What did I have to lose?
